The Israeli annoucement that they are building 1600 new housing units was called "procedural."  And we are suppose to believe Netanyahu just learned of it?

Ghostbusters is not an Option

Who are you gonna trust...who you gonna call?

It is growing like the ever growing huge blob on a science fiction flick from the 50s--a lack of trust.  The word today, on a talk radio show this morning, was that Mr. Obama had told his fellow Democrats to forge ahead on health care and to forget the public option...that it (the public option) would be picked up later...trust him...or else this year’s elections would spell dooms-day for all of them.

Well, a person has to have a certain degree of a track record to ask for trust.  As of right now, it seems the President should be about securing trust by doing more of the things he has promised and indicated would be done--like passing a public option.

Whether or not the talk show host is right or not, the right thing to do at this time is to pass the health care bill with the strongest possible public option.

If the truth is marching on, why doesn’t it come down this road?

NO TRUST

Our system is not bad.  In fact, it should work.  Now, however, members of Congress are expressing concern that trust is a very large issue.  Not only trust between indivduals but also between branches and inter-branches (houses) of government.

Wow!!  Guess calling names can get to you after years of doing it.  It is indeed sad when all that is intended by some is to play the "gotcha game" between political parties to determine who is "in power"--something that doesn’t mean much lately.

There are still quarterbacks at every level who are casted to do the job.  If they cannot get the team on the same page...it will end up looking like it does now--foolish.

Having voted on the people in responsibility, would you make them trustee over all you own?  So how do you believe our children and grandchildren are going to fare?

                                 WHAT’S GOING ON?

To pass an incorruptible health care bill would mean a great deal to everyone.  How do I know?  Because so many are throwing rocks at it.

Admittedly we do not put much confidence in a report last night that President Obama has indicated that the public option is not necessary.

With us it is all or nothing regarding the public option.

Inside and Outside Pressures

My mom is retiring from teaching this year.  She is over seventy.  I am over fifty` and she has had high blood pressure practically all my life.

Many people have "drawn" government checks for decades because of "high blood pressure."  This unproductivity is a burden.

Here in Clarksdale there are 40-50 big tankers sitting still on the railroad and have been there for a long time.  If these were in use it couldn’t but help bring the price of its commodity down in price.

Some Congressmen need to take note:  if we had wanted a Republican Congressman, we would have voted for one.

The Health Care Bill, if it provides for a public option, is worthy of a Democrats’ vote.  It is not perfect--that will be a good reason to re-elect those who vote for it.

Charlie Rangel is in the process of being busted because he took corporate trips in 2007-2008.  His timing was off.  If he had waited til the Supreme Court opened the doors to corporations’ "reconciled reward program," he could have gone every weekend.

Corporate donations to campaigns only?  So what.

Obama is inserting a $50 million subsidy to doctors’ malpractice insurance.  How much will this reduce offfice visits?  Patients would have been better off had this gone to "New Patients Charge."

Fifty million dollars...how far will that go?  Might as well say we are subsidizing vacations, private schools and colleges and other expenses.

DON’T TAKE KINDLY TO BEING BLACKMAILED

So how far will the issue of Post Offices being closed on Saturday be taken?  It is entirely sad if the Postal System loses $7 billion this year and predicts its competitive spirit is so bad that it believes it would lose $238 billion over the next decade.

People do not give the Post Office credit.  No, Fed Ex nor UPS could do it--nor do they want to.  The volume is staggering.

The Postal System could be a slight money maker.  After all, that should be all we want it to be, and what keeps it from doing that?

Many people have deep concerns when it comes to this government running anywhere near standard procedures and operating efficiency.  Take for instance so many of the cost overruns and apparrent decades old mismanagement at the Defense Department.  Did you read about the F-35 problems?

Who is Lockheed Martin anyway?  Must be some damn good lobbyists.  All that waste and double billing, er, talking.

If Charlie Rangel loses the Chairmanship over two trips, some people should lose a lot more over the F-35 dealing.

PITCHING BOLDLY

Thanks to Senator Jim Bunning’s high and inside pitching, we have a chance to step out of the batter’s box and determine what our stance should be.

We need to recognize that we cannot continue spending as we have been and while we must maintain our military and other departments of government--something has to give!

We do not hold that our unemployed people are lazy or without skills, but if the spending that is being held up in other states is like some we heard about in Mississippi, we have to ask how much is essential.  Two projects in Mississippi that Senator Bunning is delaying are trails on the Natchez Trace and paving the roads at the Vicksbrg Military Park.

Washington’s spending crossed the line a long time ago.  We are no longer balanced and relaxed in the batter’s box. Thanks to Senator Bunning for bringing the count to 3-2.

MADMEN ON THE LOOSE
as serious as it gets

Say it ain’t so, O!

A NY Times article today implies there may be a question whether or not we may drop an existing policy whereby we would use nuclear weapons against a nation that is non-nuclear but attacks us with biological or chemical weapons.

The only question we have is why have we not included entities as well as nations.

In addition, President Obama is studying whether or not to permanently reduce thousands of nuclear weapons from our arsenal.

Make no mistake, this is pivotal.

HELL, YEAH, IT’S A TRAP!!

The State of Mississippi is ordering its Highway Patrol to cut their  mileage in policing our highways and biways?  So we read.  There is a plan; there’s always a plan.  Do you suppose they want to raise or lower taxes?  Reckon what Plan B & C could have been?  Don’t want to pay professional lawmen?  There are plenty around to cover that option.

But, the trap is likely deeper than that.  Look around--Big Bad Ben Bernanke says inflation is not to be seen.  Well, not at the gasoline spout where he is most "concerned."  Everyone knows when the weather warms--watch out!!--people will be cussing foreigners...the wrong ones...remember 1973?  That’s been awhile, huh?

How far can B4 play his hand out?

Almost everyone who deals these days has learned to deflect, spin and dance around sore subjects.    Good golly bum, for example, (I didn’t say a harmless example) Ole Miss has been trying to get rid of Colonel Reb for better than  10 years.  Of course, much of the dirty work and looking silly, has been carried out by the butt kissing ASB Presidents and such...as usual.

Ole Miss officials point at others declaring them to be mischievous.  Like other things--it depends on who gets the last laugh or citation.

  CONSTRUCT//DESTROY

From the beginning there has been either constructive and destructive ways and people.  There are rebels in all sizes, colors, shapes, forms and genter.

For one, I believe it is constructive for blacks to commemorate Black History.  Still, the average young student today is in a fog about those events.  For whatever reason, "We Shall Overcome" was scheduled to be sung at our program today but was not.  In many ways "the victory" of freedom has been won, but in some ways this generation is falling victim to ways that will forever keep them enslaved in some respects.

Who understands the slagging britches and such?  Sure, each generation has its "things" but who wants to see that?

Ok, so a US Senator showed his again today, but that it a different thing.  He has more problems than that.  He cannot remember how many houses he owns, yet he doesn’t want to help people have health care.

When you think about it, that’s more obnoxious than the britches’ thing.

BUILDING BLOCKS

What every child knows--pull out a block and the blocks above fall.

Ben Bernanke wants the authority to do all matters of things to our economy, but when it comes to the most basic thing--determining what banks should stay in business, he wants nothing to do with it?

Savers around the country need a reliable source to determine the viability of our banks.  Too bad no one asked the Fed Chair what he preferred not to do during his reconfirmation hearings.

BBBB was really strutting his stuff in committee after having been reconfirmed.  Maybe his motto is "don’t sweat the small stuff."
